Storm’s In-House Electroplating Saves OEM Customers Time and Money

Because all too often electrical parts manufacturers send out copper connectors to third-party platers, a lengthy process that requires excess packaging, additional freight costs, lost time and other hazards that commonly occur in shipping.

Then when the plated copper components are returned for testing, even the slightest scratch in the plated surface means a failed inspection.So it's no wonder how job after job Storm's in house plating has proven its value to OEM customers.

Tin Plating is Storm's Most Common Option

Tin a great choice for busbar applications such as power sub-stations, tower grounding, and high-voltage connections. Because tin-plating is inexpensive and protects copper from environmental degradation. At the same time tin masks copper from thieves destroying its value in recycling.

Storm also uses a trace amount of lead in its tin plating process to prevent the occurrence of tiny crystalline structures called "whiskers."

   

Other Storm electroplating applications include:

• Silver plating to connect key electrical contact points - a popular choice in the Switch-Gear industry.

• Lead plating to prevent the degrading of lead/acid battery connectors - now widely used in Solar energy.

Storm's electroplating process immerses copper components into an electrolyte bath that produces a uniform coating over edges and the rounded surfaces of bus bar holes and bends.
